Formal Wear.
For my first topic I have decided to do formal dresses.
I have looked at dress shops online and found many dresses stunning while others not so much. I have seen dresses with a mix of colours, which can be too busy. while others may have a singular colour, but can be too bland.After searching for a while I have found a dress that I would find beautiful.
The elements that I find attractive is the mirror body piece. It draws attention to it by being so bright. I like how it looks like a rain of silveer where the bodypiece is turning into the skirt. this bit is almost like a firework that exploded into silver sparkels. The white skirt evens out the silver mirror piece, making it bright but calming.
The Text.
Is it important and valued by society?
I believe that the text is valued by society because many people would follow the basic rules of formal attire. Many people wouldn't show up to a formal event in ordinary clothing due to it being frowned on in society. Therefore this is meaning that many people would follow the traditions of Formal Attire.
Where would the text be found?
This text would be found among many fashion magazines around formal time, with things to wear to a formal. These magazines help girls choose which clothes to best wear as to fit in at their function. This may be one of the only places where it can be found other than the internet. Many places on the internet may be fashion blogs.
My Interpretation of the text.
My Interpretation of the text is that being dressed for a formal function can be a difficult thing to do for girls as the have to have a dress that suits society at the time. As long as a dress girls have to find shoes andbags to match their dress so they look even more socially acceptable. I believe that this text tells me that I have to wear what society excepts.

This is an interesting first blog Maddy! I am really intrigued at the range of topics people have chosen for this blog, I really hope you all share with each other. Fashion is such a big topic, and formal clothes really are very interesting. I wonder about the history of formal dressing and where designs have come from, what inspires them etc. Exploring this idea and how this one dress actually tells a story that started so much earlier, could be interesting. I also think it would be interesting to look at what design rules there are, and what happens with people like Vivienne Westwood play with the rules. You should write maybe about 150 words for each blog, in more of a paragraph style to answer these questions, you don't need to be so formal as a report. Hope this helps, i look forward to your ideas in your next post!
